The Holy Trinity doesn’t need a feast. We honour Almighty God this day, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in gratitude and appreciation of the privilege we are given in knowing the mysterious truth God has revealed to us about the three persons in one God, but even more, about our own invitation to relate to God in a special way.
I will offer Mass this Monday in honour of my patron St Anthony and in thanksgiving on the Heinz Anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood 57 years ago. Also, next Saturday, it is 25 years since the death of a former parish priest of Lymm and a friend of mine, Fr Willie Doyle. We remember him in the Mass this day.
It was good to see St Winefride’s parishioners at the Choral Celebration in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in St Mary’s Anglican Church last Sunday, and to hear three hearty renderings of the National Anthem at our own weekend Masses last week. Thank you to Marje Caine for her Jubilee decorations outside as well as inside the church. It was a happy time all round.
The Head Teacher Mrs J.A. Beever advises that there will be an Open Day for Year 5 girls who are interested in joining the school in Year 7 in 2023 and an entrance examination on Friday September 23 2022. All information will be posted on the website www.loretogrammar.co.uk from 25 June.
Applications can then be submitted until the morning of 31 July 2022.
Thank you for the numerous suggestions I have received about spending your money on the parish. I have already acted on several of them – you have drawn my attention to various perceived needs. I’ll publish a list of them later on – but there will still be thousands of pounds left over. As far as I know you are still the most generous parishioners in the Diocese of Shrewsbury.
Next Weekend: Feast of the Body and blood of Christ (Corpus Christ).
