I wish everybody all the joy that accompanies the Easter event, the triumph of Jesus when he rose from the dead after undergoing death on the cross for us. He promised that all who believe in him will be able to follow him through death to eternal life, the life which begins at Baptism and continues with God for all eternity. Special greetings to all who are still shielding at home.
During Easter Week the scripture readings at daily Mass are full of the excitement of the early Church, with stories about those who saw Jesus after his Resurrection, and the preaching of the apostles giving their testimony. You are most welcome to come and join us at Mass, in the spirit of celebration and gratitude that God has called us to follow Jesus, the ‘Risen Conquering Christ’.
Thank you to all those who have worked hard to prepare for the Holy Week services, moving furniture, working out the intricacies of the ceremonies, arranging flowers, rehearsing the singing and the music, preparing the fire, reading the sacred scriptures so splendidly, organising the sacristy, washing altar linen; and to our two altar servers who responded willingly to the challenge. It takes a lot of co-operation to present the Holy Week ceremonies well, but hopefully when many people are generously involved, it is not such a burden on one or two people. “To the greater glory of God”.
As last year, the envelopes will be delivered but not collected. Details of how to give will be provided with the envelope. If you could spare time to help with delivery of the envelopes between the above dates, please sign your name of the board that I will leave in the church after Easter. I will then leave the required envelopes to be collected nearer the time. Many thanks. Lyndsey McGuinness (Organiser).
Please pray for the repose of Fr David Peters of Sale, who died age 86 last week. May he rest in peace.
