Hello to all of you.
I look forward to celebrating the feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the Universal King the weekend, the last Sunday before Advent. It is good to remind ourselves that He has conquered the evil one, and invites us all to share his victory, by putting our faith in Him. The readings at Mass bring us passages from the bible which proclaim the true status of the Risen Christ, like so many proud banners we can follow with confidence and joy. We can deepen our faith by joining in worship with others at Mass, or by praying and reading the passage in John’s gospel where Pilate says to Jesus ‘So you are a king, then!’ and contemplating Jesus’ reply.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Catherine Eckersley, who died in Cheshire Grange NH this week. Mass was offered for Roger Blackburn, and for the repose of the souls of the deceased members of the Dodd and Loughton families, Marie White, Stan Beardwood, Sr. Catherine Joy, and John Dodd. Again there will be Exposition on Tuesday at 7.00pm followed by Mass at 7.30pm, and Mass on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 9.15am as usual. There will be a coffee morning after Mass on Thursday.
We are trying to re-establish our music for the Saturday evening Mass, and would like to increase our numbers if possible. If there are any musicians (grade 4+) who would be interested in joining the music group, please contact Annette Bourke (753321). We could also have singing at 10.30am Mass, but we haven’t anyone to accompany the singing on the Clavinova. This need will be urgent at Christmas.
Before Covid, we used to collect gifts for distribution through St Joseph’s Family Centre in Warrington to more needy families locally. It became more difficult, and food parcels were replaced by shopping vouchers. This year there will again be vouchers, and you can donate to this on https://cafdonate.org/18286. But there will also be gift parcels, and we would welcome donations of non-essential items such as selection boxes, chocolates, biscuits, and luxury toilet gift sets. A container is in the church porch for your gifts.
Here is some advance notice for some events in December:
The annual candlelight memorial service for children who have died, in Warrington Parish Church (St Elphin’s).
The AGM of the Lymm Sanctuary Hub. We are a member church and as such we are entitled to have a representative who can vote. Please let me know if you would be willing to do this job, and I can ‘appoint’ you.
The Shrewsbury Lourdes hospitality celebration Mass celebrating 70 years of the pilgrimage, with Bishop Mark in St Vincent’s, Knutsford at 3.00pm. There is a meeting before at 1.30pm. For the agenda and minutes ask me.
St Mary’s C of E are holding their Christmas Tree Festival.
