Even my niece who lives near the River Clyde has been able to go with her family to the seaside this last week. Her kids (in Scotland) are already a month into their summer holidays. I do hope you too have all had a chance to enjoy some aspects of the heatwave.
I’ve a lot of announcements this week, so on with the news:
I don’t anticipate a crowded church at first. Again we have only seventy who have booked in for this weekend. Please God more will soon feel safe, and in that way we will gradually get back to life as it was in the olden days.
We offer congratulations to Elissa Haltof, Amy Hewins, Hannah Swetenham, Seth Senier, Krysztof Kraska, Szymon Gasiorkievicz, Gabriel Gyepi-Garbrah, and Theodore Gyepi-Garbrah, who have now received Our Lord in Holy Communion for the first time. May it bring great blessings and graces for them and their families.
You may have heard that United Utilities have arranged to clear a sewer on Booths Hill Road close to Travis Perkins. The road will be closed on Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August. Suggested diversions to our church car park from the eastern direction include journeys to High Legh and Thelwall via the A50 (!), but ‘locals who know the highways and byways might prefer aiming for Whitbarrow Road and Barsbank Lane’. Please allow ten more minutes than usual to get to Mass on time.
As fate would have it, the Churches Together are planning a Picnic in the Park (Richmond Grundy, behind our church) on Sunday 1st August at 3.00pm: a day of fun for all the family (dogs included) and music too. You bring your own refreshments. There is more detail on the CTLD website, https://ctld-lymm.uk. If any of you are able to help with the organising of games etc, please contact the secretary right away – email@example.com. See if your friends are going to be there.
Bishop Mark ordained three new priests at St Anthony’s, Woodhouse Park, on Thursday. They have already been appointed as assistant priests in the three largest parishes. Please remember them in your prayers.
The Diocese of Salford is seeking to appoint two senior administrators in their office.
They specifically ask that we advertise them here. Full details are on our notice board in the church, but applications have to be in at very short notice.
This appendix to the new guidelines is published on our noticeboard in the entrance to the church so all can see where the priorities lie. Rather than stay away, if you are anxious about being exposed to Covid by attending Mass, please voice your concerns as there are suggested alternatives. The safety of all remains our priority.
Entrance: God is in his holy place, God who unites those who dwell in his house; he himself gives might and strength to his people.
Psalm: You open wide your hand, O Lord, and grant our desires.
Alleluia, alleluia. Your words are spirit, Lord, and they are life. You have the message of eternal life. Alleluia.
Communion: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and never forget all his benefits.
