Today the Bishop has written us a letter explaining an important initiative of the Holy Father, who on Friday, the Feast of the Annunciation, consecrated the Russian people to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and today we pray for peace in solidarity with all Russian people opposed to the war with Ukraine.
In the first reading, the book of Joshua tells of the arrival in the Promised Land of the people of Israel, the end of their wandering in the desert after their deliverance from Egypt. Paul tells how God has reconciled the world to himself through Christ, and this news is entrusted to us as God’s ambassadors. The message is: ‘Be reconciled’. The gospel is the familiar parable of forgiveness…’A man had two sons’.
The Shrewsbury Diocesan Pilgrimage is happy to announce that it will be going to Lourdes this year, after the pandemic caused it to be abandoned. Prices start from £710 by air, and £440 by coach. Dates are 28/29 July to 4/5 August. For brochures and booking forms please visit the pilgrimage website www.shrewsburypilgrimage.co.uk or write to the Pilgrimage Office, 2 Park Road South, Prenton CH43 4UX.
The boxes of Offertory Envelopes for 2022/2023 are now available in the parish rooms. Please be cautious when selecting your box, as only names are printed on the labels, and not addresses, due to data protection regulations. Also, please be kind enough to read the Gift Aid notes printed overleaf. Many thanks.
CAFOD Collection The total has now risen to £602. That’s more like it! Thank you.
We are sorry to announce that after 25 years of selling plants to raise money for Cafod, our supplier E. Smith and Son has stopped doing wholesale orders. The GOOD NEWS is that they have expanded their retail outlet and are open for business. You can find them on Booths Lane, off Cherry Lane, WA13 0PF. They have a wonderful selection of plants, hanging baskets and planters, all at competitive prices. Please support this local family business who have looked after us for years. PTO
The tax year 2021-22 will be coming to an end on April 5th. The parish will then undertake the process of claiming back the Gift Aid refunds on donations made during the tax year.
If you circumstances have changed, and you no longer pay income tax (or for any other reason you do not wish to remain in the gift Aid scheme, please let our organiser Peter Thomason know by 5th April, otherwise it will be assumed that you have paid sufficient income tax for the parish to reclaim Gift Aid on donations made in the tax year. Contact: HOME 01925 753732 MOBILE 07720 460894
Any tax-paying Parishioners who currently donate loose cash in the Offertory collection may like to consider signing up for our ‘Gift Aid’ scheme.
The benefit to the Parish is that the tax you have paid on your donation can be reclaimed from HMRC.
The process is simple, whether you opt to continue to donate weekly using envelopes provided by the parish, or pay monthly by Standing Order.
Please leave your contact details on the sheet provided in the parish rooms, and you will be contacted by our gift Aid Organiser Peter Thomason, who will make the necessary arrangements with you.
