Please take the annual Mass Count again this week and write the numbers down on the list in the sacristy. Last week saw the largest number at weekend Mass since before Covid. Please pray that the younger families also will soon return.

The prophet Amos was a reformer, critical of the well-off Israelites of his time, and quite forceful in his language. Some of our parishioners are very comfortable financially, thank God, but those struggling don’t publicise that they are in difficulties. The gospel highlights social inequality as a matter for everybody’s conscience, in a graphic description of what may happen after death to those who were heedless of the needs of others.
Next weekend begins the month of October. We could maybe pray the rosary each day for world peace,
