It is Palm Sunday this weekend and the beginning of Holy Week. The services will be pared down, but here they are:
FOR EITHER OF THESE ABOVE SERVICES THERE IS A SIGN-UP SHEET IN CHURCH AFTER THE MASSES THIS WEEKEND.
If you can’t get a place (there are only 30) then praise the Lord I your own way, maybe by just enjoying the weather.
FOR THESE MASSES YOU ARE ASKED TO BOOK A PLACE ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AS YOU HAVE BEEN DOING NOW FOR MONTHS.
The Chrism Mass is streamed from the Cathedral on Wednesday afternoon at 3.00pm, also watching at the altar of repose there from 8.30 – 10.30pm Thursday. In church there has been a pile of unused planned giving envelopes in their boxes, a reminder of all those who were unable to come to Mass during the past year. They have been replaced by new ones for the year ahead, and can be collected after Mass. Please be careful only to touch the one assigned to you.
GIFT AID: It is also the time of year when we claim for tax paid by you on the donations you have made. If your circumstances have changed, or you feel you don’t wish to remain in the Gift Aid scheme, please contact Peter Thomason (01925753732 or mobile 07720 460894) by 5 April, otherwise it will be assumed you have paid sufficient income tax to reclaim Gift Aid on donations made in the past year.
Churches Together have two ongoing initiatives: an Easter Challenge Family Quiz with some Easter eggs for prizes – the structure outside church is part of this – and also a projected help facility, based on the Sanctuary Hub, for older people who can’t keep abreast with IT. Essential leaflets are available at Mass this weekend for finding out more about both these ventures.
There is to be a weekly online course, from the Westminster Archdiocese, free of charge, about Bible History. It begins on April 7. In eight Wednesday evening sessions, starting at 7.00pm, Mauro Janicelli will deliver LIVE a helpful description of the twelve stages of Bible History. This is strongly recommended. Info and registration www.comeandsee.org.
We intend to sell bedding plants again this year as part of our ongoing support for CAFOD. The order forms are available at church. For those needing an e-mail copy contact Angela: firstname.lastname@example.org Orders will be required for April 11th . All details are on the form. Plants will be available to collect on Wednesday May 12 th . I have offered Mass for David Jones, James Sproats, Winifred Townson and Stan Beardwood lately dead, and for Rose Livesey who is unwell. The funeral for David Jones is on Thursday here at 1.00pm.
There is room at 9.00am Mass on Sunday. Don’t forget to put your clocks forward!
