TODAY’S READINGS
For the seventh Sunday of Eastertide finish the series of readings – the Acts tells the story of the death of the first martyr, St Stephen. The Apocalypse comes to its conclusion repeating Jesus’ promise ‘I will come to you very soon’ and the reaction ‘Maranatha’ – ‘Come Lord Jesus’. In the gospel from John there is the heartfelt prayer of Jesus that his followers will all be One. We have three great feasts on the next three Sundays: Pentecost, Trinity, and Corpus Christi. This should be an appropriate time when all of you who have stayed at home shielding can safely return to praise and worship God in person.

QUEEN FOR SEVENTY YEARS
The Saturday evening Mass on 4 June will be offered for the health and wellbeing of our monarch who has been Queen for 70 years. I shall be attending the choral celebratory service in St Mary’s CofE at 6.30pm on Sunday 5 June and you are welcome to join me.
WHIT SUNDAY
Please remember that amid all the joyful celebrations next weekend for the Platinum Jubilee, it is also the birthday of the Church, the feast of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles in spectacular form, and with extraordinary results. Do pray daily that the Holy Spirit will come upon all of us with the same force and power, renewing ‘the face of the earth’, and in particular the life of our parish here in Lymm.
