“Your role and mission in the Church”
A day of reflection, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and workshops to help you know how you can use your gifts in the service of God and your neighbour. Run by the Diocesan Mission for Catechesis team and the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph, at St Alban’s Parish Hall, Macclesfield on Saturday 26 November from 10am -5pm. Please bring a packed lunch. To book, contact lisa.martinez@dioceseofshrewsbury.org
I get a request from some charitable cause every single day, but one you might be interested in is Mary’s Meals, which provides sustenance for 2.25 million children all over the world. They have had an offer, that any donations they receive up till January 31, will be matched, and therefore doubled. See notice board for details.
Surprisingly, not all Jews believed in the afterlife. The idea gained a boost during the latter years BC, when the people were subjected to hardship by their Greek overlords. Many died bravely fighting under the Maccabees for freedom. It was regarded as surely unthinkable that they would not rise again. Jesus answers the Sadducees with a positive answer, i.e. that the patriarchs were still alive.
Pleas pray for the repose of the soul of Betty Shaw, of Cherry Tree Avenue, who died recently. May she rest in peace.
You are warmly invited to attend an information evening organised by the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child, which will be held at Westleigh Parish Centre (St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2 Bentinck Road, Altrincham WA14 2BP) on Monday 7 November at 7.30pm.
Come along to hear about the wide-ranging work that SPUC is involved in locally, nationally, and internationally to protect women and unborn children from abortion. Ten million lives have been destroyed in Great Britain since 1967. For further information, please contact SPUC Northern Information Officer, Terry Graham, on 07549 068226 or terrygraham@spuc.org.uk
