READINGS AT MASS Very beautiful and consoling words from the bible today. The prophet Zechariah says there will be peace when the great King comes to Jerusalem. The selected verses from Psalm 144 which
follow are among the most perfect in the psalter, praising God and describing his goodness to us. Matthew urges us to turn to Jesus in trouble or when we’re weary. Paul wonders if we are spiritual or worldly.
DAY OF SPECIAL PRAYER FOR SEAFARERS
They often work in difficult hazardous conditions. In the last year, more crews have been abandoned by their employers than ever before. Many are being denied the right to leave their ships for even a short break away from the relentless noise and pressure
on board. Many report much stress and poorer mental health. Today the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. There is a collection supporting ‘Stella Maris’ (Star of the Sea), the new name for the Apostleship of the Sea, seeing to the welfare
of sailors as it has done over the years. There are some GiftAid envelopes available. Other ways of donating are via
www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate or by texting ‘SEA’ to 70460 to donate £5.
Fr Elder writes: Please help me to downsize. I have a fine sofa bed, hardly used, which would be useful even just as a sofa. You can have it if you collect it. Come and see it.
FIRST COMMUNIONS All are welcome to join the special mass next Saturday morning (11.am). Thank you to the kind people who offered to be prayer sponsors for the children. There will not be Exposition on Saturday
morning, but Confessions will be available until 10.30am. The next day (Sunday) the children have a party after the 10.30am Mass.
Mrs SHEILA ROGERS who has served the parish faithfully for many years is leaving on 14 July to be nearer her family in Middleton. She asks to use space in the newsletter to thank everyone for making her
time in Lymm so happy, and to say farewell to you all.
POST COVID People seem less worried about being infected now. Perhaps we should be restoring things that were dropped when the epidemic was in full swing.
Communion from the chalice, sign of peace, offertory procession, ministers of communion, children’s liturgy…In the words of Capt. Picard, ‘Make it so’ Shall we?
