THE CORE GROUP met last Tuesday as part of the formation process for the Parish Day. Our theme was The Parish: Called to Serve. We reflected upon the times that we were helped and the
times that we had helped another. The dominant feelings which people described included feeling humbled, relief at receiving help and the kindness that was often unlooked for. We considered the groups or individuals who were of service in the parish community
and it became apparent that there are many groups and individuals who serve in our community. Many are visible but many are not but their contribution and service is vital for the vibrancy of parish life. We also discussed the work of those who serve outside
of eth immediate parish community, those in the civic and ecumenical world for example. We considered why it is vital that St Winifride’s be concerned with the wider world; the sick those with a disability, the unemployed the homeless, the starving. We considered
the ministry of Jesus, that he was a servant king and that we are called through Baptism to be prophets, priests and kings in our world today. Whatever your service to our community, your prayers, charity and love of the Lord and your neighbor is appreciated
and is a blessing to us all. Please continue to pray for the Parish and our Parish Day.
