READINGS AT MASS –
Elisha the prophet benefited from the kind hospitality of a couple, who revered him as a man of God. Jesus promised ample rewards to those also who revered his disciples. And in his letter to the Romans, St Paul describes
how in Baptism we begin a new life: not just being born again, but imitating Christ’s resurrection by coming out of the water in which we have been ‘buried’ and sharing his risen life.
THE PRAYER GROUP – Meets again on Monday July 3 at 7.00pm in the parish rooms. All are welcome to come and take part.
COLLECTION –
On behalf of the Sister who gave the appeal last week, a big Thank-you to you all for the grand total of £643.20 you donated in support of the Missions. Next weekend there is a collection for helping seafarers in port.
LORETO – Have an interesting new job on offer – a Pastoral Manager supporting the welfare and safeguarding of students in years 7 – 11. Apply by next Thursday July 6. Full details
are available on their web site https://www.loretogrammar.co.uk/812/current-vacancies.
FR ELDER WRITES –
At last I am free to announce publicly that my resignation has been accepted by Bishop Mark, and I can retire on September 1. I am not going anywhere, but living on in the house at No. 18. He has asked the parish priest
of St Vincent’s, Knutsford, Father David Long, to take responsibility for our two parishes. Changes take place in the first week of September. There will no longer be evening Mass in Knutsford on a Saturday, but Fr Long will celebrate 5.45pm Mass here. There
will be just one Mass here on Sunday, at 10.30am. He will have Exposition with Confessions on Tuesday evening followed by Mass at 7.30pm, and morning Mass on Thursdays at 9.15am. I will continue to help out as long as my health permits.
PLEASE PRAY FOR the repose of the soul of Fr Russell Cooke, who died peacefully on Friday at his home in retirement in Neston. He was Dean of this area when he was PP of Plas
Newton in Chester, and conducted the induction ceremony for Fr Elder here all those years ago in 2008. May he rest in peace.
CHRISTIAN AID –
Through your efforts £2,353.62 was donated. A big thank-you!
