NEWS AND INFORMATION
RENEWAL WORK AT ST WINEFRIDE’S: A new boiler was fitted in the hall on Thursday and a Sound Engineer is designing a new sound system for the Church.
WEDNESDAY IS ASH WEDNESDAY the beginning of Lent. It is a day of fasting and abstinence. There will be Mass at 12 Noon where ashes will be blessed and distributed.
MANY THANKS for your generous offering for the Retired Priests’ Fund which raised £585.
MUSIC AND TEA AND COFFEE AT SUNDAY MASS:
We are looking to reintroduce, once per month, music at the 10.30am Mass and to offer tea and coffee after. Any musicians, any age, any talent level are very welcome to join the music group. We are also looking for volunteers to
organize tea, coffee and cake after Mass. If interested, then please text or call Chris Purslow on: 07831 553486.
THE CORE GROUP met on Tuesday as part of the preparation for a Parish Day. This was the 2nd meeting of our preparation. The theme was listening and the core text was Philippians
2:1-11. The core of the text emphasizing that as Jesus did not put himself first as he accepted God’s call with humility so we in the core group should act with humility as we move towards the Parish Day and move into the future of St Winifride’s. We heard
of some excellent examples of listening from the group and we discussed the vital role listening plays in evangelization. We will be listening to everyone in the parish. We come to you without any preconception of what is the right way forward. We want to
hear your hopes and fears and what you may be able to contribute to the mission of the parish. We ask for your prayers that we may listen with humility for the call to mission from the Holy Spirit
PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS Beth O’Clearigh and Ruth O’Connor who have died recently. May they rest in peace and may the Lord comfort their families and friends.
PTO FOR MORE NOTICES.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: We will host the formerly known, Women’s World Day of Prayer, on Friday 1 March at 7.30pm. We would welcome any donations of cakes etc for the refreshments afterwards. St John’s spread in High Legh last year
is a hard act to follow! All are welcome, men and women. WE had a great turnout last time we hosted the event in 2016. This year the service has been written by the dwindling number of Christian women in Palestine, long before the present carnage erupted.
If you can’t come please pray for an end to the suffering in the Holy Land and for the success of our gathering. Thank you, Andrea Hosker. If you can help, please contact Andrea on 01925 754957.
SUPPORT FOR THE CHURCH IN CAMBODIA: Many of you will know that recently Fr David visited Cambodia where his previous
two parishes have supported the work of the Church there. One of the priests, Fr Panus, is trying to build up a parish in the border town of Poipet and is trying to raise $25,000 (US) to build a parish house and office. We will hold a collection after all
Masses next weekend but if any of you felt able to make a special donation that would be wonderful. Please make cheques payable to St Vincents, Knutsford Parish Account and indicate that your donation is to support Fr Panus
