NEWS AND INFORMATION
HOLY THURSDAY: Traditionally Holy Communion has always been offered under both kinds at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. We are therefore delighted to offer this at Thursday Evening Mass this week. No one is obliged to receive under both
kinds, and you should be assured that you are receiving Jesus completely whether you receive the host or from the chalice. If this proves popular, we will look to restoring it at all Masses.
Traditionally at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday we remember the Washing of his disciples’ feet by Jesus. Could we have 12 volunteers to have their feet washed at the Mass at 7.30pm. Please sign the list in the parish
room. Following the Mass of the Lord’s Supper there will be watching at the Altar of Repose until Midnight. Please sign the list in the parish room.
GOOD FRIDAY is a day of fasting and Abstinence. There will be a collection at the celebration of the Lord’s Passion to support the Christian Community in the Holy Land. We are all aware of the terrible suffering so many are enduring
because of the war. Please do give generously.
THE MUSIC GROUP
would welcome any new singers or musicians who would like to join us to prepare the Holy Week and Easter celebrations. There will be a rehearsal in Church on Monday, 25
March at 7pm.
A NEW SOUND SYSTEM
has been installed in church. I hope it will enhance our liturgies.
EASTER OFFERING: Your offering next
weekend is the traditional Easter offering to Fr David.
EASTER EGG HUNT: We hope all the children will join our Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday
after the 10.30am Mass.
OFFERORY ENVELOPES: Your new boxes
are available to collect from the Parish Rooms. Please be cautious in selecting your box as only names are printed and not addresses due to Data Protection regulations.
NON-GIFT AID DONORS: Any tax paying
parishioners who currently donate loose cash at the offertory collection may like to consider signing up for our Gift Aid Scheme; this enables the parish to claim from HRMC the tax you have paid on your donations. The process is simple whether you choose to
use Parish Offertory envelopes or by Standing Order. Please leave your contact details on the sheet provided in the Parish Rooms and you will be contacted by Peter Thomason, our Gift Aid Organiser who will make the necessary arrangements for you.
ALL GIFT AID DONORS: The tax year
for 2023/24 will end on 5 April and we will then undertake the process of claiming back Gift Aid refunds on your donations. If you r circumstances have changed, and you no longer pay income tax (or if for any other reason you do not wish to remain part of
the Gift Aid Scheme) please let Peter Thomason know by 5 April. Otherwise, it will be assumed that you have paid sufficient tax for the Parish to reclaim Gift Aid on donations made in the tax year. Peter can be contacted on 01925 753732 or 07720 460894.
THE NEXT COFFEE MORNING will be on
Thursday 11 April after 9.30am Mass.
CLEARING OF TREES AND SHRUBBERY: You will have noticed that most of the large trees have
been removed from around the church site and the shrubbery cut back. The trees were beginning to damage the church fabric and some were overshadowing our neighbours gardens so I was advised by a tree expert that they should be removed. We hope to provide a
new fence between the entrance to the church and the playing field and to develop the area by the entrance with new flowers and shrubs.
